HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Blogger wouldn't let me on for about 2 hours I think. Anyway, I got 5 hours of sleep last night, which is better than four I guess. :-/ I have a cold on top of everything now, but I'm feeling a bit better. Still tired.
I'm making chili for dinner tonight. (Brett Favre's mother's recipe'!) It sounds really good... I'm also making a trifle, which I haven't made in years. I don't even have a trifle dish, so it will be kind of squat in a large casserole dish. I'm also trying to do it from memory as I don't have the recipe. I'm sure it will be ok... I hope.... I sent Mr. Hype to the store to pick up groceries, and I gave him this totally organized list I printed out on the puter. If anyone sees it, I'm sure they'll think "That guy's wife is really anal!" Well, at least it's organized! :-D
We're just going to sit home tonight with dvds, hot chocolate and lots of kleenex... :P It's been so nice having Mr. Hype home this week. Too bad he goes back next Monday.
Everyone have a wonderful New Year! Buona Fortuna Sempre!

Sick of Being Sick
As you can see, I put my blog back the way it was. It wasn't very readable before... And it looked like a big bumble bee... I spent my day napping a bit. I still didn't sleep much last night and I'm hoping I sleep tonight. I'm still illin'... Mr. Hype and I are waiting for our dinner to be delivered. We ordered from a new place so I hope it's good. I ordered a portobello mushroom and artichoke sandwich. *drools* I'm so hungry right now... However, I'm glad all the junk food is in the safe!

Blog Changes... I want opinions!
I've now been up 24 hrs. I'm a zombie. I thought I'd play around with making my blog more readable. The print is smaller and I did yellow on black, because yellow and black contrast more than any other colors. However, I don't know how it looks or how readable it is. The other colors aren't done yet... So it won't be that much of a mess, but I just want opinions on the yellow on black. I'm thinking I probably won't stick to it and maybe use eggplant and green or something ?! Please give me your opinions! Thanks!

Go Meeeeeeeeee!!!
I've been eating like a bird the last few days. Let me explain that. Someone once told me that birds actually eat several times their weight in food per day! So eating like a bird is NOT a good thing! Sooooo.... I took all the chocolate, the bread machine bread, and the pie and locked them in the safe and gave Mr. Hype the key so I can't just sit and munch on that junk because it's THERE, which is what I've been doing. I've MORE than made up for the few days I couldn't eat at all, and it's just WEIRD that I'm chowing like this. (I'm half in a stupor from exhaustion and that doesn't help my decision making skills either.) So... Junk food in the safe! Well done! *pats self on back... :-)

Sleepy Me...
So I woke up a while ago after falling asleep for an hour. I was coughing and it woke me up, so I took a cough med pill and thought I'd ramble a slight bit while it takes effect. I was desperately hoping to sleep straight thru the night after I fell asleep as I'm exhausted.
Surprisingly, when my Dr. office called me back, they agreed w/my self diagnosis and just ordered the Cefzil for me! Yay me! I soooo didn't want to drive all the way to Green Bay to be seen. I was a bit shocked because they NEVER do this. hmmm....
Also, I noticed, the pic I posted a couple entries ago, "pic of the day", is NOT the pic I originally posted. They changed the page apparently. So that's just a nothing pic really. I originally posted a pic of Poole making the last touchdown, because if you look at his feet, it's really questionable as to whether he would have got that second foot down, so it all rested on the ref's call, which could really have gone either way...
Everyone is re-doing their blog templates, etc. Perhaps I'll change my color anyway. I love black background w/bright print, however I find it difficult to read sometimes. Maybe it would work w/this large print. Hmmm... I wish I could just make up my own original template. I suppose that sort of thing is possible for someone who doesn't know html, IF they spend EONS on trial and error, however I'm not THAT patient! I don't even know what I'd want anyhoo. I like how Huffy's has a printed background. Various kanji on the background would be super cool.
I just found Jazzy's blog from Cat's blog link, and she has NO shoutouts and NO tagboard... BOOOO!! If anyone sees her online, tell her she needs a tagboard at least!!! I don't get on AIM much at all, so it's unlikely I'll see her although I did 2 weeks ago or so...
I talked to my friend Kris today, who I was supposed to go to GB to see, and now I can't because I'm a plague-ridden infectious sack of cooties. It's cool anyway because she needs the rest. She works sooo much. She's actually importing a Russian husband! No, it's not like "buy a bride" or something! She met him online a long time ago and she went to see him and he asked her to marry him. I think it's a HORRIBLE idea!!! It's quite possible that he just wants to get into the country and she knows this but doesn't care. She's going to get a pre-nup so he can't get anything in the event of a divorce... There is a lot more to this but it just seems outrageous to me! Kris is just an amazing person and very intelligent, so her blase attitude kind of freaks me out. She's so easygoing about this whole thing. More power to her I guess. I just hope it works out...
Ahhh... back to bed...

Monday, Medicine, and Monotony...
Blah... I woke up @ 3:30am, (so odd, because that's when I usually would go to sleep only a few months ago). Anyhoo, I couldn't get back to sleep so I've been doing laundry and cleaning and paying bills since then. What fun it is...
I'm waiting to hear from my Dr. I KNOW I have a sinus infection. I had one last year and I have all the classic symptoms, etc. And probably 2 ear infections. I am praying they don't make me come in to be seen, as I don't want to make the hour drive. I'm just too tired. I know what it is and I know the antibiotic I need, which is an odd one (Cefzil) because my system is so used to Zithromax that it does nothing. Just like last year, I'm on Zithromax NOW and I still ended up with bacterial infections. Last year I got bronchitis, 2 ear infections, and a sinus infection while on Zithromax. Bleah... I'm just getting over the virus thang and now this. Whaaa... Boohooo... poor me... etc. I feel much better today tho! I'd rather have a sinus infection any day than have uncontrollable vomiting for 15 hours! If I was wearing a hat, I'd tip it to whoever came up with Zofran. It is an amazing drug. It's specifically a drug used for chemo patients to stop nausea and vomiting. Because I couldn't stop vomiting they gave me an IV and put that in as well as some other drugs. It's amazing. It worked so fast! They sent me home w/a couple of tablets of it as well. I heard this stuff is ungodly expensive, like $100 per pill! I hope to God my lame-ass insurance company will pay for it. Knowing them, they'll say "But you aren't having chemo so we're not going to pay..." >-\ Yeah, I should have just thrown up until I went into cardiac arrest from electrolyte loss or something like that, and then they could pay MORE! Losers... I despise my health insurance company beyond just about anything in this world. They're at the top of my personal Axis of Evil...
Today, I'm going to try to get some sleep, but I'll probably be awake a lot of the time and I'll get bored and post on blogs as usual. Mr. Hype and I want to do some tidying up around here. (Especially this office/computer room or whatever it is...) The "file pile" is huge! I hate filing!! My desk is the biggest disaster! So is the floor and every other surface in here! Covered w/various papers... bah! I wish I could get on one of those shows like Mission Organization, where they come in and organize a room or two. Maybe not that one, because you have to buy a bunch of furniture, etc. Trading Spaces wouldn't be bad because they build all those built-ins, which we need to the ceiling! However, they would never do any room in our house because they're all too small.
As most of you know by now, (and as Huffy posted), the Packers are division champs. :D Things really could have gone either way w/that last play in the Vikings/Cardinals game. I think there are 3 reasons why the play was called as it was. If you look at the pics and figure the velocity, it seems to me, and Mr. Hype, that Poole would never have gotten that 2nd foot down, but who knows. It was up to the ref to call. I think it was called the way it was because:
#1. Mr. Hype stopped watching the game prior to that, as he stopped watching the Packers because he is a serious football jinx. It's been proven over and over again. When he stopped, this play went down and was called in favor of the Cards.
#2. I also think the call went this way because people (the refs included) are more likely to vote for a more, dare I say, "wholesome" team. Examples of Vikings players coming off a bit negatively:
A. Randy Moss trying to run down a cop... That's definitely a thug move...
B. Culpepper dressing like he was in a "Pimp of the Year" contest during a post-
game interview. Yes, fur coat, gold tooth, big ol' pimp hat w/a feather.
When Brett Favre is interviewed, he wears a sweatshirt. It just projects a better image. I'm not saying the Packers are saints because they sure as hell aren't, but they don't project a bad image like the above examples do.
#3. You can laugh, but I believe that at times spirits/ghosts are around us. I'm referring of course to Brett Favre's late father. Take it or leave it, but I'd like to think he had something to do with it. ;D
Of course, I also think it's most probable that the Packers, unfortunately, will lose their first playoff game. They just really aren't that good this year. (But better than the Vikings!)
I'm slightly bummed that I am not going to see the Jaklynator as planned. I can't risk exposing her to any illness. She's just so cute!! I don't remember if I mentioned this in an earlier post, but two weekends ago she was here and she met our kitties and loved them! She's still walking around at my sister's saying "meow meow" because she wants to see them again. I won't be going up to see my father either, nor my friend Kris. Crikey, all our plans are shot.
Mr. Hype and I didn't exchange gifts for Christmas, but we are going to exchange gifts for Le Befana, which is celebrated on Jan. 6th, the Epiphany. This is an Italian holiday that my mother (who is from Italy), celebrated as a kid. I think it would be great to celebrate that every year as the big holiday rather than Christmas. Think about it, you could do your Le Befana gift shopping AFTER Christmas when all the big sales are going on! How cool is that! Here is a link explaining Le Befana, who is the Christmas/Epiphany Witch, so to speak. There are two "legends", but I prefer the first by far. Also, how stereotypical is this...The Epiphany is, of course the day the three wiseguys showed up. Italy has always been associated w/wiseguys! ;D

Belated Merry Christmas!!! and Happy New Year!!!!
I actually post dated a Merry Christmas thang the same day of my last post, but it never posted... stupid blogger... I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Unfortunately, mine was sheer hell. I have been very sick. I spent Christmas Eve. in the hospital hooked up to IV's w/a bunch of meds, etc. I'm still illin', but not like I was then. I have been in GB at my mom's since Tuesday night, and just got back today. We won't be doing any celebrating at all as I'm just that sick, but that's OK. Mr. Hype gets to relax and I get to .. um... get better I guess...
Also, TSO was amazing! I don't know if I'll be on here for a while, so I should also say Happy New Year to everyone... so HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

TSO Tonight!!!
I've been exhausted the last couple days. I don't know why... Maybe that Epstein Barr leftover stuff and whatnot. I'm really excited because we're going to see Trans Siberian Orchestra tonight! I just talked to my sister and she told me a little bit more about what the show is like. I guess about 3 hrs long, (w/a break). They do some sort of Christmas story and there are a lot of special effects, etc. I'm really looking forward to it. Along w/our tickets we got 2 free drink tickets for Brett Favre's Steakhouse. I know it's somewhere near the Resch Center, but I'm not exactly sure where. It's for a tap beer or "house wine" (read "swill"). Perhaps I'm turning into a bit of a wine snob, even tho I'm no sommelier, that's for sure.
Speaking of Brett... the Packers kicked butt last night! I was sleeping unfortunately, but Mr. Hype and the kitties watched the game. Brett Favre's father died unexpectedly the day before, but he played, and very well from what I've heard. His father was his first coach and everyone said that he would have wanted Brett to play. So the Packers and the Vikings still stand as they have been for a while now...
Tomorrow we are going to my sister's for 3 days. I'm excited to see Jakl again! :D As usual, my sister has made billions of cookies and she's still baking. My mom is going to be there as well, and she made a bunch of cookies and pies too. Wunnerful... I'm going to try to avoid them as best as I can. I am really hoping that the traffic isn't hell... I'm thinking it might be because of all the people leaving work at noon tomorrow... (She lives south of Chicago, so rush is a problem...)
Mr. Hype has 2 weeks off of work! He only had to take 5 vacation days as the rest are holidays or weekends. I'm really happy about that. He did take a job on Saturday just for a little overtime, but that's it. We are going to see my dad somewhere during that time, so that should be fun. I'm also going to see one of my favorite friends in GB sometime next week. She lives in Minneapolis now, but is coming back for a few days to see her fam, so we're going to get together and do something. I haven't actually SEEN her in like 9 years!!!
Anyhoo, I should actually dry my hair or something so it doesn't end up looking goofy as hell :P

We went to my sister in law's house yesterday for an early Christmas. It's a great place. It's a condo/townhouse in downtown Chicago and it's in a perfect area. It's fine if you don't have a car. Mr. Hype and I were all excited about how quickly we got there, but that was until we drove the 3.5 miles from the Edens to her house. eek! I didn't time it, but Mr. Hype was visibly irritated by it. There are never any open parking spots on her street, so we had to park in a pay lot around the corner, which is no biggie, really, but I am grateful for my garage and driveway right now. We had a good time and she had the traditional Christmas Pizza and Christmas Corona and Other Beers, etc. Our niece, Maddy, is just the cutest thing ever! (So is Erin, her sister, but Maddy's still a baby.) She's 8 mos. old and she has the funniest laugh I've ever heard from a baby! Really low sounding. We had to leave before five because we had to be out of the lot by then, and Mr. Hype's brother (who also lives downtown Chicago) told us that he watched something on TV, and they were showing where towed cars go. The ones that get towed during snow plowing are actually towed to Indiana! So you have a $200+ towing fee plus your fine. I'm not sure about all the other towing that goes on, but I wouldn't doubt it, as there's no place to PUT towed cars in Chicago...
...And I FINALLY got to go to a sushi bar! Mr. Hype's sister lives right next door to a sushi bar, so we stopped for a few minutes before we had to leave. On the suggestion of my bro in law, I had Flying Fish Roe, and Yellow Fin. The Flying Fish Roe wasn't supposed to be as salty as others, but I didn't like it because it was still too salty for me, but the Yellow Fin was REALLY good! Being a sushi virgin, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to eat the wrap around the roe. I know you usually do, but this looked like electrical tape, so I asked. (Kind of embarrassed when I have to ask how to eat something... Reminds me of the "seafood tools" incident...) Yeah, you were supposed to eat it, and I had to ask what was on the side as it looked like more sushi, but I only ordered 2 pieces. It turned out to be ginger slices. Oh well, I'll know for next time. The green tea I ordered was really super good. *A tangent here: It reminded me of the time my mother was complaining to her friend that the green tea she bought at the grocery store wasn't very good. Her friend looked at it and said "That isn't green tea. That's just tea in a green BOX!" :P I also LOVED the way they decorated the place! (I adore Japanese design.) It was very sparse, but on the walls they had a few of these scroll paintings, and they were scenes from Cowboy Bebop! (One of my all time fav anime's.) After that we took off, and it took 45 minutes to go the 3.5 miles back to the highway... grrr... Then we got in some sort of traffic jam on the highway, and I decided to lay down and try to sleep and see if that would make the drive go by faster. UGH! I see why people use helipads down there! I mean, to be driving and watching the people walking pass you by...
Saturday, my sister came over w/the Jaklynator!!! We decided not to do another coat of paint... woohoo! I guess 4 coats is about enough... There are a few streaks, but tooooo bad... Jakl was sooo cute because this was her first time seeing kitties! My sister was trying to get her to sit down and eat something when we got there and Jakl kept saying "meow" and trying to leave from the table before she ate anything. She ran around the house saying "meow" all afternoon. At one point we brought her downstairs when we brought the kitties down there, and she started running around after Zeros, who kept hiding from her. I think he felt terrorized. And she walked around w/their shoestring and Kuroneko loved chasing that, of course. Jaklyn is so cute and she got so much bigger in just a month or two! I'll be seeing her in two days, provided I'm not getting a cold, which I think I might be. That will really suck, as tomorrow night we have tickets to Trans Siberian Orchestra, and I cannot deal w/dumping $40 a piece tickets again. (We had to dump our Primus tickets early last month...) Plus I really want to see them badly!
Today I'm going to kick back and rest and relax and take lots of vitmain C and do my best to make sure I'm well the next week.
And BTW: CONGRATS GAZ AND SHARON!!! For those who don't know, they're having another baby!! :D
AAAAALRIGHTY THEN!!!! Blogger won't post again... I think they need to do something about all the glitches.... Yeah, I know it's free, but it still shouldn't be so glitchy, and I'm sure they have plenty of technowonks over there... >-(

A Humdrum Conundrum: The Missing Sock Question
I washed socks in the middle of the night last night. When I took them out of the dryer in the morning, I was one sock short. This happens to all of us and I have a theory. Dryers, are in fact, conduits to a parallel universe. A strange alternate universe that for some reason needs extra socks. I also suspect that it's a polar opposite universe, so when you lose a white sock, when it gets to that parallel universe, it's a black sock. Just as I exist as a 6'5" fat black man over there. I vaguely recall reading a quantum physics book once, and it discussed multiple parallel universes and wormholes, etc. At that time I came up with this theory. It made sense after reading the book. I have been unable to prove it however...

I ended up crashing really early because of the migraine, thus I'm up at THIS hour being semi-productive. I am doing laundry, and I wrapped the last of the Christmas presents. The ones I just did don't look like they were wrapped by a blind person. Maybe I should have wrapped all the pressies in the middle of the night. I had some cottage cheese for a snack. I always get 1% fat cottage cheese, and I sit there and dig around looking for some large curds that may be stuck in there. This batch didn't have many. I don't know why they don't make large curd low fat cottage cheese. If they did I'd buy it every time. Maybe there's some technical cheeseological (cheeseological?) reason for it... Got my paint supplies ready to go. Should be a fun filled day of stinky paint fumes... I'm going to try to go back to sleep. I can stick my laundry in the dryer in the morning. I don't know why I bothered to post this crap! :P
Hmm... I just tried to post this and it won't post... What's up with that?

Three Way Tie for Last
I seem to be slightly less Scroogy today. I figure if we absolutely have to, we can take a little bit out of savings. I don't want to do that, as we need the money for our sump pump hook-up and I need money for school, as well as our trip to Aruba... Bah! I'm waiting for the mother unit to get here. We're going to the Riverfront to do a little shopping (then I'm done! woohaaa!), and then out to lunch. Should be fun. Maybe we'll go to the Fountain Restaurant, otherwise known as "The House of Typos". Almost everytime we go there, there is something new that is horribly misspelled on the menu. They're the only place I know that serves chicken cordon BLUE... Well, I guess not typos, they just don't know how to spell too well.
Tomorrow I get to put another coat of paint on the accent wall. Should be a miserable time, as the edges are going to be tough... Tape won't work in this instance :-( And on Sunday, we're going to Mr. Hype's sister's for an early Christmas. His side of the fam will be there. She will probably serve hummus and pizza again... You know, the traditional Christmas dinner! :P I've never had hummus, so it should be interesting. Or maybe she'll serve sushi...
My kitties are getting FAT! We're not overfeeding them, so I don't know what to think. Zeros is HUGE! He's bigger than Kuroneko in general, but he seems to be getting a gut and he's only 7 mos. old! eek!!! Kuroneko is smaller but when I brought him to the vet a while back, the vet said HE was fat! hmmm... Two little lard boys I guess....
Might as well add from here since my comments JUST got back >-/ I just had to say I had the most amazing lunch! We went to Il Ritrovo, which is authentic and amazing Italian food and had soup and sandwiches. It was a little pricey ($40+ for 2 people w/out tip, but Hey! Mom was buying!), and the sandwiches and soup came right down from heaven I just KNOW IT! I usually get a gourmet take-out salad there a lot, and that's not expensive, $9, but these sandwiches were HUGE, and the bowl of soup was HUGE! I finished mine for dinner tonight. Too bad I got a migraine shortly after, which I'm still trying to kick. I suppose I shouldn't be in front of the puter, but it's only for 2 minutes while I post. Guess I'm a masochist or sumpin'... Back to my dark room...

Scrooge THIS!!!!
I've so had it w/the holidays already. I am sick to death of buying a billion gifts for everyone! I don't mind actually getting gifts for people if we have the money but we don't... How lovely that now that we're done buying for everyone else, Mr. Hype and I don't have one cent left to buy each other ANYTHING AT ALL!! NOTHING! Last year I said I was only going to buy for the kids and this year I relented and ended up buying for everyone (not the relatives on my side, as we're not doing gifts, just chipping in a few bucks to give to charity). I'm just not going bankrupt on this ever again. It ruins the holidays when you have to sit and worry about bills coming in because you have no money left after buying presents for everyone... Just venting...

Everything Moves So Slow So Tired...
I'm listening to Toad the Wet Sprocket again. I've been playing Dulcinea constantly. I've fallen in love w/that CD all over again. Beautiful music, beautiful lyrics...
We got some snow! I'm so thrilled! Not a lot... you can still see the grass poking out on top, but it's white enough not to look completely miserable out, so I won't close my blinds like I did yesterday. I actually don't have a lot to do today. I'm a bit tired.
I actually went on AIM for a while last night and enjoyed myself! I talked to Huffy for a while, which was nice, and she sent me some adorable pics of her kids :-) I also talked w/Bucky about my big nerdy passion, which is anime. Yes folks, its my deep dark secret. I'm an anime freak, and I'd like nothing better than to do voice overs for anime as my life's work. I do have a voice that would work for that quite well, and it's flexible, however, it's not that easy. Most have to actually join SAG and such, and if you're not out there (LA, usually), it's just not easy at all. *sigh.... I'll get my degree in econ., w/my dream still being to do anime or cartoon voices!! :D
Found another quiz folks!!
Your soul is bound to the Burning Rose: The Rapture.
"I go where my heart beckons me, and I go with my head high. But sometimes, I get a need until I bleed so my heart swims above my head."
The Burning Rose is associated with passion, intensity, and desire. It is governed by the god Eros and its sign is The Flame, or Physical Love.
As a Burning Rose, you can get lost in the moment if you let yourself. You are a very physical person, be it in relationships, work, or play. You may be driven by your hormones sometimes, but you know it's because you have to follow your instinct.

That's How They Get Ya!!!!
I am still trying to calm down from my afternoon spent speaking to AT&T and MCI. I got a bill from AT&T, my supposed former phone company and some of the dates that I was charged were supposed to be days were I was covered by MCI under their Neighborhood plan... (which I have renamed "There Goes The Neighborhood Plan"...) I called AT&T and they said that for those dates, which I was assured by MCI that I was covered under their new plan, MCI was routing my long distance thru them! WTF?! (At that point I decided to face the center of the room to avoid burning the walls w/the fire coming out of my eyeballs...) And also, MCI never closed my acct. w/ATT. !!? ATT told me they had a similar plan which is actually better, less expensive, more perks, and I asked about taxes and they said about $10/mo. So I said I'd see what happens w/MCI. I called MCI FOUR TIMES, but got a message saying they "could not handle my call" three of those times. How pathetic is that... the phone company can't handle my call... When I finally got thru, I got the winner of the Miss Incompetent Pageant. She puts me on hold for 3 minutes to look up my account. She said "Well the switch took place AROUND that date." Wha?! AROUND?! She then tells me to call and disconnect my own ATT, which, for complicated reasons I couldn't do at the time, and THEY were supposed to do it in the first place. She puts me on hold again to call ATT for a 3 way call. "I can't get through... Do you have a number for them?" Yeah... She puts me on hold again... Finally the 3-way call goes thru and I get my ATT cancelled. Before I hang up w/MCI moron, I ask her how much the monthly taxes are... She says between $14-$16/mo. WTF again?! How can you not KNOW and why so high? She said that if you go over 500 min. taxes go up. Aside from that, this is an unlimited plan!! I told her these are fixed rate state, local, FCC taxes, and ask her how they can change. She said she didn't know... And didn't bother to find out. So I hung up and called ATT again, and they gave me a rundown on every exact tax that would be charged. Apparently, what MCI calls an unlimited plan is really not, and that they do stick in some charges after a certain amount of minutes, (which to me looks like they pass off as taxes to the unsuspecting public). So, I switched right back to ATT. This isn't supposed to be a commercial for ATT, but the difference in professionalism was unbelievable. ATT people were professional and knowledgeable, MCI moron was not. I was later talking to my dad, and he told me that MCI was bought out by Southwestern Bell a while ago, and several of the SW Bell execs. are going to prison and some are being fined for creative bookkeeping. Money Money Moneyyyy in a Ligitious World!
Alrighty then. Seems we have what is referred to as an "attractive nuisance" in the backyard. Our backyard pond/flood froze over last week when it got cold and some of the neighborhood kids were riding their bikes on it and skidding and falling etc. I really wouldn't care except for the fact that it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. I got in a convo w/my dad about this yesterday and it nearly made my blood boil. If someone were to fall and break their arm, the parents could sue US, even though the kids were trespassing and there w/out their parents consent. That sort of thinking makes me want to punch a wall! What the fuck ('scuse me, I don't usually write THAT, however this is something that angers me to no end) ever happened to PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY?!!! No one wants to be responsible for themselves or their kids. "Let's make someone else pay for our mistakes" seems to be a nasty mantra played over and over in this country and it makes me so mad. I could rattle off ridiculous lawsuits for days, but I'm sure everyone has heard about plenty of them. I think attorneys that bring litigious garbage to court should be disbarred. When I was a kid, when we fell and got hurt on someone else's property, the idea of suing the property owner was unheard of! It incenses me that people do this all the time. Our pond melted over night (now someone will probably fall and drown in it...), but I hope when it freezes we get a ton of snow to cover it. So far only 1" is predicted. It's 38 degrees for God's sake!!! Not very festive... And we don't have the means to put up a fence either. Nor do I want one. In the spring, the city should be putting a mini-storm back there so that problem should be solved. In the mean time, Mr. Hype is playing the mean old man: "Hey you kids! Get out of my yard!" Not quite like that, but he told them to leave before someone gets hurt... The honest version would be "Get out of my yard before your irresponsible parents sue US because they weren't watching you BRATS! And BTW! Which one of you nailed a football thru our garage window a few months ago!!???"
My kitty-boyz are whining a lot as they haven't been let upstairs since Friday because of the drying paint. I have to do another coat on an accent wall on Fri. and then more paint drying time. They're bumming. I fed them squishy food today, as we're almost out of dry cat food. They scarfed it down in minutes! I just hope they don't do the bulemic "scarf it down, throw it up a few minutes later because they ate too fast" thing that our last cat always did. I would prefer they ate dry food. Aside from the fact that I think it's not as hard on their little tummies, I can't slash my hand on a bag of dry food like I did on the can this morning. >-( AAaargh... I'm going to try to go back to sleep... more l8r maybe... But first... another quiz for ya!

The Organ Plays Till Midnight Note-Perfect Like Clockwork...
Monday and I'm bumming because it turned out I didn't get to see the Jaklynator :-( I'll have to wait until Christmas. That's NEXT WEEK ALREADY!!! I still have to shop... This weekend has probably put 5 lbs. on me. Being around my sister has that effect on me. She's always bringing loads of cookies, etc. I don't have issues w/pigging out on that crap when it's here usually, but it seems she's some sort of binge hex person. I used to gain weight every single time I went to her house for a week or so! So did some of her friends. SHE never does tho! Sat. and Sun. was all about pizza and cookies! UGH! We had a ton of cookies left so I made Mr. Hype take them all to work. I don't even want them around at all! I think I have a sugar hangover... bleah....

Merry "We Got Saddam" Day...
I got up and called my mom's first thing this morning to find out when sis, et. al. were coming over today, and she told me Saddam was finally caught. Of course I hadn't even turned on the TV yet, so I had to go upstairs and check it out. Wow... He now looks like Charles Manson's lesser groomed brother! Good thing they got him. I got a kick out of how they were saying the people celebrated... "dancing, singing, throwing candy", and of course, "shooting guns in the air". It's always the latter that makes the rest sound so funny to me. I watched CNN. My fav reporter/journalist is Christiane Amanpour. They also had Wolf Blitzer on. I keep wondering if he was born with that name, and if so, if his parents are still lamenting the fact that he didn't turn out to be the pro wrestler they wanted so badly... hmmm...
I feel I may explode today. I ate more yesterday than I usually do in 3 days. I figured about 3000-3500 calories! woohoo... a pound... I suppose I burned, oh, say 200... :P My sister brought over a big container of cookies: choc chip, m&m, pecan balls, ginger creams, and ginger snaps. I ate at LEAST 12 of them, and then we ordered Luigi's pizza, which has a ton of cheese on it, along w/Buffalo wings, etc. I had 4 wings and 2 pieces of pizza throughout the day. Needless to say, I have a mega upset stomach today. They're bringing beef barley soup today, and also buckeyes (choc/peanutbutter cookies). The soup may go down, but I don't think I can stomach any more fat or sugar for a few days.... bleahhhh.... I did get some sleep last night tho. We had to sleep in the living room because of the fumes in the bedroom. There is only one wall to be done in the bedroom. Of course my sister is doing ALL the painting in the bedroom. She's getting all anal about it and tells me I do it "wrong", so she wants to do it all herself. Well... more power to her I guess! She's one of those type AAAAA personalities, so of course it HAS to be perfect. I'm surprised she didn't bring a magnifying glass to check over the walls afterward... :P My brother in law is managing to strip the paint off the walls in the kitchen, but it needs to be sanded and primed before it's painted. I won't do it until spring when I can keep the windows open and not freeze. We had a lot of windows open yesterday, and the fumes were still really bad. I'm really thrilled that they offered to come up to do this. I never would have managed the kitchen myself, that's for sure.
L8r today, my mom is bringing the Jaklynator down, along w/their two (big) dogs, Brutus and Lambeau, (oohh... reminds me... Packer game today I think! I won't watch tho!), to meet up w/them and they'll go home from here. I'm excited to see Jakl! She had a scare yesterday when she lost her blankie at my mom's, and my mom couldn't find it for about 2 hours. She MUST have her blankie for nap time or she cries herself to sleep which is really sad. Luckily it was found before that. I hope the dogs don't upset the cats... The kitters will be separated by a door, but this will be the first time we've had dogs in the house since we got the cats, so we'll be able to see how they react for the first time. I'm sure the dogs will want to play w/the cats.... They did w/our other one, but he wouldn't have any part of it. It's the only time he ever hissed. And one of the dogs always liked to go down and eat all the cat's food out of the bowl... So I think we'll just not let them down there!
We actually got a little snow last night, however we can still see a little of the grass thru it :-( I want MORE! It looks like it might snow again tho. The sky is dark grey. I was noticing some of the neighbor's outdoor Christmas decor. One house down the street always put up a snowman that is at least 12' tall. Now they have 3. These things pretty much cover their front yard area. I assume they'll be up until almost May, as they left the one from last year up until the very end of April. 12' snowman in the yard over Easter... hmmm.... Another quiz for ya:

Kick 'Em in the Dishpan Hoo Hoo Hoo?!
I've been up since 3:00 am, which is weird, as a lot I'm up UNTIL 3:00am, but I fell asleep early last night and now I'm tired and can't get back to sleep. I've been reading various news sites, etc. and the news is just depressing lately. One article I read was about this guy, 25 years old who was until recently in special forces. He contracted Creuzfeldt-Jackob Disease and is nearly dead now. It's the whole gist of the article that was depressing. The special forces didn't believe he was ill and thought he was just screwing around on the job, etc., not knowing he had holes developing in his brain. It sounds as though they treated him very badly and it doesn't look like he'll make it until Christmas.
Another article that sort of irritated me was a report that Dru Sjodin's (that girl kidnapped from a mall parking lot) father was extremely angry because the sheriff said it's likely she isn't alive. Come ON!!!! I'm quite sure she ISN'T! Why get pissed off because he stated the truth! Crimoney in the bucket! Right from day one, they stated on the news that they were looking for her alive, yet they showed footage of people dredging lakes. If she was alive, that guy who kidnapped her would have told the authorities where she is, as it would give him less trouble at this point. The only reason for him to shut up is because if they can't find a BODY, they will have trouble charging him. I know the family wants to believe she's alive, however, reality is reality. If someone gets you into a car at gun or knife point, it's highly unlikely you're going to live. The thing to do, even if someone sticks a gun to your head is to run. Even if they shoot, they're more likely to miss than hit, and if they hit, it's likely they won't hit a vital organ. At least that way you have a chance. Once a victim is in the perp's vehicle, it's pretty much over. *sigh... I'm going to try to go back to sleep....

Hullabaloo and Howdy-Do
Well, we barely got any snow. There's a little, but you can still see the grass thru it. I really would have liked a bit more than that. Our backyard lake is now frozen over. (I wonder if the neighborhood kids are going to show up with their skates?) It's big enough for kids to skate on. Our sump pump was going off every 4 minutes last night and Mr. Hype was driving me nuts:
Mr. Hype: "OK, it's going to go off at 9:04", and then at 9:04 it would go off.
Mr. Hype: "SEE! I was right! Now it will go off at 9:08", and we would be in another room and he'd hear the sump pump go off and he'd run and check the digital clock.
Mr. Hype: "SEE! 9:08!" (?!)
Me: "Yeah! I see! You can't do this all night! Now knock it off because you're driving me nuts!"
At least the basement didn't flood. We have two sump pumps and we realized that one doesn't take any water from the outside, only the water from the dehumidifier inside. How useless. I guess we'll deal w/that in spring w/all the other water issues.
We ordered Pizza from Nonna Maria. They have a lot of specialty pizzas. We always get the Garden pizza, which has liquid cheese (yum!), roma tomatoes, zucchini, and broccoli. It's super good. Last time we ordered it, someone made it wrong and glopped all kinds of regular mozzarella on it, so I figured they changed the recipe, so when I ordered this time, I asked for light on the cheese on one side, and Maria said they can't because it's liquid, it has to be on the whole thing. I told her that last time we had globs of regular mozzarella on it and I thought they changed the recipe and she was totally mortified: "We would never do that! If you ever get a pizza that is different, it's wrong it's because someone else made it. Call us immediately so we can tell the person what they did wrong!" She was all freaked out that our last pizza was wrong. lol! So, this one was the usual. We also got artichoke Parmesan crostini to go w/it and that stuff is amazing! I asked her about how long it would take and she wouldn't give me ANY estimate at all! Apparently one of their delivery boys wrecked his car because of the snow. (Don't ask me... there wasn't even 1" on the ground... It probably had nothing to do w/the snow...) It ended up coming in 45 min., which is actually about 15 min. faster than usual. So we ate while listening to the cats cry on the other side of the door :P
I got this great link from a friend called "Snowglobe". I wanted to post it because I love it, but the link wouldn't work on my blog... I did mail it out to a lot of people anyway, so I'm sure everyone's seen it by now. I just cracked up at that!
I got up too early today... 7:30am, which is entirely too early for me, but I'm up. :-( The refrigerator door was open when I got up. Mr. Hype didn't close the door tightly enough so it stayed open because of the pizza box sticking out a bit. I suppose it ran that whole time... oh well.
I have exciting things to do today. <---sarcasm... I have to continue to try to get my bathroom cleaned up. My tub is old and the coating is sort of worn off so stains don't come out too well. Plus the people who lived here previous to us put those ridiculous anti-slip sticker things on the bottom, and of course some have come off. You can see where they were, and it's also difficult to clean in those areas. I'm hoping to get a new tub w/attached surround in the spring. I need to get rid of the tiles in there as they're falling out and the caulk is in bad shape, even tho Mr. Hype just redid some of it. It's just all too old.
I'm listening to David Earl Johnson (w/Jan Hammer). An amazing old piece of music. I actually found the album (yes vinyl), when I was around 12 yrs. old. It was a cut-out (used), and I bought it on a whim. I love it! The music is almost impossible to describe, ("percussive" might be a good word), but there is one song I used to play on my jazz show. I love it, so a few months ago I ordered the CD. It took about 6 weeks to get from Amazon, I suppose because it's pretty rare. I'm glad I found it though.
Found a new quiz!

Bring it on Home: I'm Wearing Beckett's Pants!!!
We didn't get any snow and it's still raining. I wanted snow because it's been entirely too gloomy outside for the past 3 days. :-(
I spent most the day online researching interesting (to me) pieces of history... Including, Samuel Beckett (lol!), Japanese history, and of course, Charlie Parker ;-)
I pulled up a quiz I haven't seen anyone post yet, just for the hell of it. Pretty cool, because Storm is my favorite!!!

I'm on a Beckett Rant!
I went to school and got all the info I need re: my classes. It turns out I need more than 24 credits, as they added some requirements to my major... Creepy things like econometrics! ARRGH!!! That was always something saved for grad school, and it's the one thing that worried me about possibly going on in econ. Also, they added calc. I'm not too thrilled. I have to see the econ. advisor as to exactly what I need, as some of the classes I took previously they no longer offer, but I will get credit, blah blah blah... It just all has to be done on paper. And as it turns out, I do have to take intermediate macro again. Gee, wish I remembered ANYTHING about ECONOMICS! For the time being, I'm just taking some humanities class, Music Something-or-Other from 1955 to the Present or Something. It's a class I will be taking from home, which is good, as chances are good that I would miss classes in the winter w/the hour drive each way. The lectures are on tape. Pathetic paperback book was almost $60! I was also mistaken about the online classes being less expensive. They are MORE expensive! What I took to be the cost, was the ADDITIONAL cost. Damn... After all that I went to my mom's and we went to Perkins for dinner. Portobello mushroom grilled chicken sandwich and a side of broccoli. It was really good! Better than usual. Maybe that Perkins is just better than the one here. I never got to the shopping. I've been feeling semi-ill off and on, usually at night, but I think I started feeling like crap as soon as the advisor I saw began to continually cough and hack for 2 straight hours. Bleah... Well, I have to go call my dad and thank him for sending me a 3 day old burnt pancake in the mail...
OOOhhh...! I watched a really good show last night! (I don't care for a whole lot of what's on TV, so it's noteworthy when I find something I like...) It was on the History Channel. It was a documentary on the history of samurais.... Excellent!

I'm in a Beckett Trance! :P
Woohooo!!!! Lil Sis and the superhero, Brother-in-Law Man are coming this weekend to help me w/my paint travails! And they're bringing superhero tools that the ordinary citizen painter doesn't have! Now that the paint has dried it really looks OK except for the ceiling line, which is crooked, and the splotches on the ceiling. They will be able to fix that. Bro-in-Law Man can use Goof-Off w/out losing his brain too, so that will be helpful. They may also help me w/a kitchen debacle from 2 yrs. ago. I painted, and chunks of the paint peeled along w/other paint layers underneath. Since the kitchen was white, and I used terracotta (Not ORANGE, as Bro-in-Law Man says!), the kitchen looks like a giraffe because it's splotched all over. I was waiting until I could afford to have professionals strip it, but if Bro-in-Law Man can do it, then he goes to the top of my superhero list. They may even be able to fix a drywall issue on the ceiling. I'm so happy!!! Of course this means I have to clean the house before they get here. My bathroom is a disaster. My mother was even hollering at me to clean it before they get here. Of course I will! I want them to at least be able to see the surface of the vanity!
Procrastinating again... I have to get ready to go to GB. I'm signing up for at least one online class, two if there are others that fit what I need. Since online classes are cheaper, the books will probably be equally expensive :-( Afterward, I'm going shopping w/the mother unit, and we're going out to dinner. Should be fun, provided the stores aren't too crowded. Perhaps I should bring a fork?

From The Lizard Lady. Had to Post...
The Washington Post's Style Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.
Here are this year's winners:
1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize...it was your money to start with.
2. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.
3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people, which stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.
4. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.
5. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.
6. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.
7. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who does not get it.
8. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.
9. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.
10. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)
11. Karmageddon: its like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it is like a serious bummer.
12. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
13. Glibido: All talk and no action.
14. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
15. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you have accidentally walked through a spider web.
16. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito that gets into our bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.
17. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a grub in the fruit you are eating.
And the pick of the literature
18. Ignoranus: A person who is both stupid and an asshole

Chemical...Take on the Chemical For...Comatose
Gaz if you read this, who is Beckett!??
I just painted my difficult wall. More of a disaster than I figured it would be. I have ugly lines where I cut in around the closets, and I thought I'd be daring and not tape off the ceiling, and of course, I have nasty crooked lines, not to mention paint on the ceiling :( I used this stuff called Goof Off to try to get the smeared stuff off the ceiling. They might as well just call it Major Poison, as that's what it is. It's so volatile that when I put it on a towel to rub the paint off the ceiling, it had evaporated already! The toxic fumes are unreal! I'm a bit dazed from it. Because the spaces around the closets are so small, the roller didn't fit and it's all streaked... I also have paint in my hair. That's a given. I also hope that Mr. Hype doesn't freak because it's turning out to be a tad bit lavender. You know "It's too girly!' It isn't really, it's off white/lavender. My sister told me to just stop and she's come up this weekend to help me fix it and finish the other walls. The thing is, I've done lots of painting in previous apartments as well as in a job in college. One summer all I did was paint the on-campus apartments. I do not know what the deal is here, although I think it's just the tight corners and the fact that I did not tape off the ceiling. I was going to go to my mom's to get away from the fumes... (hour drive), but I think I'm getting used to it now so I'll stay home. My sister's hubby can't even smell Goof Off because he's so used to it! That is unimaginable to me! It's worse than acetone or any other chemical I've ever smelled. I have windows open and it doesn't even seem cold even tho it's 40 degrees out. I think I'm going numb from the toxins...
Tomorrow I go to school to sign up for classes and meet w/my advisor, etc. I should probably work on getting the paint out of my hair prior to that.

The Words for the Day: Iambic Pentameter
I think I'm the only person who hasn't gone to look at Christmas lights anywhere. I suppose I will at some point before Christmas. Even tho we're going to my sister's for Christmas (Chicago suburb), I'm sure we won't go downtown to see the lights. They are just amazing on Michigan Ave. at Christmas. And people sell roasted chestnuts on the street. It's super Christmassy.
I'm actually going to start my painting when I'm done w/this. (I was going to start quite a while ago, but I'm procrastinating again, as usual...) I taped one small area of one wall. I have to go around the closets and the areas are smaller than the roller so it's going to be a pain. And I forgot to bring half the stuff upstairs I just realized. It's not likely I'll get up near the ceiling w/out bring up the ladder, I suppose... :-(
Being inundated w/Dr. Seuss this past week, (The Grinch has been on several times), I have been going nuts trying to remember the meter that Dr. Seuss writes in. I used to know it off the top of my head, but I forgot and it's been bothering me a while, so finally I mailed Liz, and she said possibly "iambic pentameter". By George that's IT! I feel much better now!!! IAMBIC PENTAMETER!! I hate when you can't remember something and it drives you insane until you're thinking about it all the time! This is one of those things I HAD to get the answer to before I could go on with my life... ;) So, for all you Seuss fans (and who isn't), now you can sound like a Seuss expert and say to people "You know he writes in iambic pentameter, don't you?" And won't that impress them!!! Plus it's fun to say: IAMBIC PENTAMETER! :D I LIKE IT!

I Got a Head With Wings
Packers won. I didn't watch. Vikings won. I didn't watch. Standings remain the same.
This weekend went by way too fast. I slept a good deal, as I think I'm coming down with a cold or something. I'm just exhausted. I didn't do too much, really. I spent half the day on the phone yesterday, and went online for a while. Games.com still won't let me on! I've added that to my Axis of Evil. My dad called to tell me of a Grateful Dead concert on PBS last night...(It's fundraising time...), and I forgot so I missed it. I learned to appreciate the Dead in college. I guess you could call me a Deadhead. I saw them once at Alpine in 1986, and it was a beautiful concert!
I got the Christmas card Lil Sis and hubby sent. It's a picture of the Jaklynator and I swear it's the cutest thing I've EVER seen! They took it themselves and had it made into cards. I can't imagine possibly getting a better pic from a professional. Jakl's really something. (Even tho Lil Sis says she's already broken a glass ornament after they put up their trees yesterday... To be expected, I guess!)
I trimmed (read butchered) my bonsai today. It looks... hmmmm.... we'll see I guess. Gonna go and hang w/Mr. Hype now. A riveting read, wasn't it? ;D

Half Day Closing
Well, I didn't go to the Christmas party. I started feeling ill and fell asleep. Just a while ago I got up and thought I should do something, anyway, so I finished most of my Christmas cards. Now this is something I have never encountered before: The envelopes in one of the boxes of cards had glue that was so nauseating that I actually got dry heaves! I still feel like throwing up! What's with THAT? I should have just used water I guess. The other card envelopes were just fine. Is this someone's idea of a joke? I mean, I think ANYONE would have thrown up from these! UGH!
This morning I went to Walmart and got a Leap Frog Pad for the Jaklynator. It was the LAST one! Good thing I didn't wait any longer. I also got myself the latest White Stripes CD. I've only listened to part of it, but so far it is excellent! Most of you have probably heard "Seven Nation Army". I love (lurve?) that song! It turns out Lil' Sis, hubby and Jaklynator won't be coming up this weekend, so I have to wait until Christmas to see Jakl. Bummerrrrr.... So, I guess tomorrow I will probably prep for my painting... at least tape everything off and take junk off the walls. Maybe I'll wrap Christmas pressies as well... Might as well get done w/the inevitable.
I'm having bonsai plant issues... (I spell bonsai different every time I type it don't I...) I put a 100 watt halogen lamp over it a month or so ago and it's growing like a weed! That isn't the problem. The truth is, I don't really know how to cut it into an appropriate bonsai-ish shape. I am going to check the net and maybe call the Milwaukee Bonsai Society. (Yes, there really is such a thang!) Right now it looks like a devil w/a mohawk. Not exactly the usual shape. :P
I've got a wild and crazy weekend in store for me! Oh Yeah! :-/

Three Way Tie for Last
This is toooo early for me! I have no problem being up at this hour when I don't have to be, but if I have to be up, it seems difficult. :-( I don't know how people get up early day after day to go to school/work. I guess my circadian rhythm just isn't set to get up early. I'm not looking forward to the time when I have to get up early to be at on campus classes early in the am. I used to work my class schedules so I didn't have to be anywhere too early, but I don't think that's an option anymore as there are some classes I have to take that are only offered once a year...
I went downstairs, and it looked like the kitties hadn't been fed. I could see a little bit of food in their bowl, and then I noticed that Mr. Hype fed them squishy food! (canned) That's all well and good, I guess, if their little bitty kitty tummys can handle it. I hope they can. Our last cat LOVED squishy food! So much that when he'd have it, he'd eat it so fast that he'd throw it up shortly thereafter. Like a little black fuzzy bulemic! He even threw up in one of Mr. Hype's shoes one time! ::snicker:: We'll see what happens today. I just don't want to be cleaning up cat vomit l8r, just so they could eat something besides the usual, which they were content with. Also, there is the worry that they may boycott their regular kitten food, which is Science Diet. Good stuff! (Well, I haven't actually tried it, but they like it.)
I have a bunch of crap to do today, and tonight is the Christmas party. We didn't get the almighty snowstorm, unless it's late and we're getting it l8r. Mr. Hype's parents are going to drive me down there, unless I decide not to go, so we don't have 2 cars down there. At this point I think I'll go. I was planning on wearing a white silk poet's blouse. It's really pretty, but, IT'S WHITE. And IT'S SILK. Difficult to wash, and w/my luck, I'm bound to spill or stick my sleeve in something red. It ALWAYS happens if I'm wearing something like that. I'll probably only have one glass of wine, but if I do, it will be a shiraz and it is RED RED RED!!!!
Tomorrow, I'm likely going to GB to my mom's as my sister, hubby, and the Jaklynator are going there for the weekend and Mr. Hype's working. They were going to take her to the Railroad Museum... (Oh boy... can hardly contain myself...) It would probably be pretty neat tho, as I guess various stores set up lit-up, decorated Christmas trees all thru the area, and you get a little train ride. (I don't mean that I AM all excited about the train, but I'd like to see the Jaklynator on the train.) She's so funny because at 18 mos., she has so much fun doing the silliest things. Sometimes when I'm on the phone w/Lil Sis, I hear her in the background and she's laughing so hard that it sounds like she's going to hurt herself, over not much really. That's the way to be!!! Easily amused, (which I kind of still am!), and not afraid to show it! It's too bad they have to grow up and become corrupted by the world in general. I don't mean CORRUPTED CORRUPTED... I just mean, socialized into society, told what they should think and do, having their creativity stifled, and having to worry about what is or isn't appropriate. They are just so sweet at that age! 'Cept the diaper issue... when she gets a stinky diaper at home, I can smell it all the way at my house, and we're 3 hours apart! I'm not much for changing stinky diapers. If it's just a pee diaper, I don't have that big of a problem. Hence the nickname "Fair Weather Auntie". :P
I gotta move... Oh that reminds me of a song!!!! Frank Black, even! I was going to pop in Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas in the Aire. You jazz peeps... are any of you familiar w/them? They're different, but definitely have their own sound. I don't know that' it's jazz, exactly. People used to jam them into the same category, but I don't know what to call it. They have a series called Fresh Aire... (Fresh Aire I, II, etc.) I recommend you check it out some time. I suppose I should put in some music that will speed up the process of getting myself going, and Ministry seems to fit the bill. There are only a few songs on that CD that I really like, but they definitely push you. Or perhaps Prodigy. I haven't listened to that in forever! I'm not real into the industrial sound, but I am fond of Ministry, Prodigy, and NIN. I think I'll listen to Frank Black in the car, to mellow out from the industrial barrage.

Goo Goo Muck
I finally got some (OK one) errand done today. I went to Home Depot to get paint and supplies.... Over $120 for just the bedroom!!! I'm still in stickershock!!! $20/gal for paint! I'm glad I didn't go Christmas shopping as well, or I'd be really bumming...
Tomorrow we're supposed to get a snowstorm... Well at least it will be in Milwaukee. I don't know how far up it will go, but Mr. Hype's Christmas party is tomorrow night in Milwaukee. If the weather is bad, I guess it will be skipped. I don't really care though, as... I guess I just don't care! :P I'm not exactly festering w/festivity right now. I still have 3 nieces to buy for, and Mr. Hype, but that's it. I really dislike Christmas shopping. It would be nice, if no one else was in the stores while I shopped... or in the parking lots... (or on the roads, or...) Anyhoo...
I'm bumming because I've been smoking more as of late. :-( I HATE smoking, but it's worse now that I'm alert all day. I think when I get busy, I won't be smoking as much again, but for now, it's bugging me. (And, hey, no smart ass comments like "You should quit smoking"! It's understood!!!) :D

Eric the Half-A-Bee
This is a really stupid time to be awake, but I woke up at 4:30 and had the munchies. When I opened the fridge, I saw Mr. Hype's leftover Buffalo wings. I'm not a fan of chicken w/skin as the skin has lots of the evil heart-wrecking fat in it, and I don't think I ever even had Buffalo wings, but I thought I'd try them. YUMMY! I ate 4 of them and now I'm lamenting the calories that must have been in them! That's probably 1/2 of my daily calories. It's not particularly carby, however the coating probably is. Byrdy says carbs are E-VILL, and I thought I'd try to have a semi-low carb day to maybe offset the globs of fat I just ate. I'm looking around the kitchen, and there isn't a lot of low carb stuff. I figure I can have cottage cheese (real!), protein powder drinks (bleah), lunch meat (boring), and then I'll go to Walgreens and get some of those Atkins approved low carb high protein bars. I think my stomach is already rebelling against the fat... :-( It will probably be worse after I go back to bed and get up l8r. Something to look forward to... :-( So this will be my first (and maybe only), semi-low-carb day. The more I think of protein powder, the more it turns my stomach, but I'll give it a try for a day. I have that Met-Rx stuff... Yippee, gross artificial artificial artificial vanilla flavor. I titled this Eric the Half-A-Bee because for some odd reason, that song is going thru my head (for those of you who are Monty Python fans, you know what I'm talking about... bzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzz bzzzzz bzzzzzzzz....) I'm going back to bed.

13th Floor Vendetta
G'Day mates! I am all thrilled that I have to drive over an hour to go to a dr. appt. I have to see the Throat Dude. About 17 years ago, I saw a throat guy, and I have nodules on my vocal cords. At that time, I was told to not speak for 3 straight hours a day... I was in college at the time and when I showed up and told my fiends that, they were all rolling, knowing I couldn't do it. Sure enough, I could NOT! (Some of you may have guessed I am a talker...) Also, I went to speech therapy to learn to speak "while pushing more air thru my esophagus". So I tried it w/the speech therapist, and she said "NO! NOT LIKE THAT! You aren't supposed to sound like an adult film star!" 'Nuff said. That didn't pan out. I was supposed to follow up in a year, but instead I waited 17. (That's procrastinating!) I just need to make sure there are no abnormal cells, etc. My vocal cord nodules did, in the past, allow me to sing Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" almost exactly like her tho! And we all know how useful that can be in life! (?)
When I got up this morn, I went downstairs, and the kittyboyz' food bowl was empty! I fed them and was wondering if Mr. Hype forgot to feed them. They get 3 scoops every 24 hrs. I talked to Mr. Hype, and he DID feed them! The little piglets just scarfed it down in 2 hours! So they only get one more feeding today. I think they're going to be jonesing for the kat fud l8r today... Which will make them even more trouble.
Last night I tried to log onto games.com to play Mille Bornes, which I haven't played before, but Bluey wants me to learn. It sounds fun, but that crap website wouldn't let me log in! It wouldn't let Huffy log in either, so at least it wasn't just me. I guess I'll try again tonight. I talked to some people online that I haven't spoken with in a while, which was nice. One girl I know who is in 4 bands (JMED) was going to look up my bass after I sent her a pic to try to get the value... and she said she's never seen one like it... (She knows the brand/model, but this one isn't made anymore, so she agreed that it's likely worth a bit.) Too bad the fretboard is too big for my fingers and I have to set it up like a standing bass to play it, and it's still hard... :-( This morning, I talked briefly to Byrd is the Wyrd (Who has never heard the Ramones' "Surfin' Bird", which I mentioned previously, and maybe she knows why I always call her that now! ... you know "Bird bird bird... bird is the word... bird bird bird... bird is the word! Papa ooo mau mau!" Sing along!!! It should be her theme music!). I talked w/Flemmy briefly as well. Both were on their way to class. So early! I suppose I should get used to it, but at least my class(es) will be online starting in January. I wish the books were online too. :-( Big rip off...
And for Gaz, I'm not in my 40s! I am 62! I only LOOK 33! :P (I'm not 33 either, but that's what people always think I am...)
I have to get my hair done tonight... Mr. Hype is going in for a haircut also. Should be fun. Yes fun... My stylist is a friend of mine and we have a good time... the way it should be! I might get the Jaklynator her Leapfrog thang today as well, and I have to call my mother-in-law and get ideas for the other nieces, as I would probably end up buying them things they already have... I think I'm going to go to Home Despot and get paint and accessories to start painting the house. I am going to have some burgundy accent walls, and the other walls in the living room will be a taupe color to match the carpet. I think the other walls in the bedroom will be a grey or heather grey type thing. That leaves a lot left, but it's a start.
And... ta daaaaaaaa!!! Mr. Hype got batteries for my elec. Rolodex. (They aren't normal batteries, they look like nickles, and you have to go to a battery shop to get them...) The info wasn't lost! So I have my addys back! WOOHOO!!! Time to go get ready for my drive. I have to get gas too... almost forgot about that...

Fools Paradise
I didn't have much of anything to do today, so I spent almost the entire day on the phone. I shouldn't complain, because tomorrow I have a lot to do and I'll probably wish I didn't. I decided to go out and get some paint and start painting the interior of my house next week. I suppose we'll have to keep a tight reign on the kitties. I don't want paint paw prints all over. THAT'S ALL!

Gifted...
Yet another ramble... I just got the marviest Christmas pressie from my Dad! A weekend in a luxury cottage in East Troy next August! :D I really wasn't expecting anything much this year from anyone, and honestly, despite my tastes, I don't like people really spending on me for Christmas... I think the gift thang gets in the way of the true meaning of the holiday, cliche' cliche' etc. etc. It'll be great as 3 weeks l8r Mr. Hype and I have our trip to Aruba! I've never been out of the country. I'm the least traveled person I know... seriously. I told my dad "THANKS!!! That was so nice of you! But you're still just getting a candle!!" He laughed. I think everyone is aware that we aren't rolling in cash at the mo. Mr. Hype's mom called the other night and said "Hi! Do you need a shop vac?!" ummm... Why don't you talk to Mr. Hype. Turns out we do. So when the phone call is over, I said to Mr., "I assume you're getting a shop vac for Christmas?" He says "No, YOU ARE!" OK... Then he can have the sweater that I will no doubt get. I have issues w/the gift thang, as Mr. Hype's side of the fam spend far too much on us and we cannot come close to spending that amount on them. And no one picks names over there... They buy for EVERYONE! We can't spend $150+ a piece on 6 people! And no one can guilt me into buying expensive pressies this year. I will not allow us to go bankrupt because of Christmas gifts! I'll probably go bankrupt just buying books for school. I completely forgot about how much that crap costs! My dad said I should buy used ones... However, it seems almost every year, they put out a "new edition", in which the changes are usually just in the order of the chapters, and you have to buy it.... THAT'S HOW THEY GET YA'!! I was also contemplating the idea of skiing this year. I think I'm far too weak. I'd get down the hill once, and be too sore to move and the ski patrol would have to haul me off the hill in a stretcher for being a wuss. I decided if Mr. Hype and I miss the Christmas party, no big deal. It's at a great place and the food is good, but they don't do the awesome gourmet seafood like they used to. I don't care for things that are too lobstery (lobstery?), but they had lobster rolled up w/wildrice and veggies once and it was great! I am not a major connoisseur of seafood at all, but it was good. I also am not armed w/knowledge of "How to Eat Seafood Correctly". When Mr. Hype and I were staying on Sanibel Island years ago, we went to this restaurant called Jacaranda. I ordered seafood on pasta. Well, in WI when you have seafood on pasta, it's small pieces of shrimp or whatever mixed in the sauce. Not so there. There were shells all over the top of the pasta, mussels, crableg, etc. And they bring out a basket of TOOLS! I'm like "Ok, do I have to fix someone's car before I eat?" I had no idea how to open a crab leg. I had to have the bus boy show me. It was a bit embarrassing...
Everyone: Make your December appointments with your shrinks now! Avoid the Christmas rush! ;D

Ding-A-Ding-Dang My Dang-A-Long-Ling-Long
Woohoo!! I just found out that I've been accepted back at school. Next week I go to see the advisor and sign up for my class and buy books (Not so thrilled about that part...), etc.
I've been trying to deal w/my Christmas cards, and losing so many addys in that Rolodex is making it tough. Not to mention, I lost one of my friend's phone #s, and it's unpublished, as her hubby is station mgr. for a major TV station in Milwaukee, and they always get junk calls, so I can't get it thru 411. Another one I managed to call her parents and get her addy and #. "Hi! Remember me?..." eek! Also, I finally came up w/a gift for my niece. My mother-in-law was talking about this Leapfrog thang yesterday... I was rather clueless about it, but I talked to Bluey today, and she said "Why don't you get her Leapfrog?" and sent me the site, so I now know what everyone's talking about. I think I'll go to Walmart and pick it up this week. Two more nieces to buy for and then Mr. Hype and I'm done!
I talked to Mr. Hype earlier today, and he's getting even sicker :-( His work Christmas party is Friday and hopefully he will be well enough to go. We have a lot of places to go over Christmas, but he took off 24th to the 2nd again, and that's really nice. I good break for him. The 23rd, we're going to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the Resch Center. I always wanted to see TSO. My sister says their Christmas show is excellent, so that should be fun. Also, I haven't seen the Resch Center (in GB) yet, and that's supposed to be pretty nice...
I forgot to mention this hilarious thing Mr. Hype's mom got his sister. It's this doll called "Mr. Wonderful". You press a button on his hand and he says stuff like "Of course you don't look fat in that dress! You look PERFECT!", and "I don't mind missing the game. I'd rather spend the day shopping with you.", and other such things women want to hear! lol! It says a lot of different things and we were all just rolling...
After reading Flemmy's post, I remember why I don't watch too many movies these days... ewww! I will be seeing LOTR3 w/Mr. Hype at the theater, which as I have mentioned many times, I have a problem with. I watched the first 2 on DVD, and their Brit accents are so heavy I have to put on subtitles... but no subtitles at the theaters, so who knows if I'll have any idea what's going on.
I'm still semi-ill today... but no where near as bad as Mr. Hype. I got myself going this morning listening to Ministry. If they used that music in workout videos, I bet it would be easier to move faster. I don't even know the name of the CD, as it's a bunch of symbols and such, but it's the one w/NWO and Jesus Built My Hotrod (which is where the above title came from...) If anyone knows... tell me!
I have been trying to take a nap the last hour and a half, and keep getting interrupted by junk... I'm super bored, so I guess I'll just try again...
