Groovin' In The Bus Lane...
... The title being a way cool song by the Jazz Butcher. :-) So I guess a re-cap: Boy have b-day celebrations changed for me! They used to be wild Bacchanalian (sp) nights. Last Friday, I celebrated w/my mom, my sister, and the Jaklynator. The Jaklynator is such a handful! I don't know how my sister does it. 2 1/2 days w/her around wore me out, and I wasn't even the one taking care of her! So anyhoo, Fri night we had to wear pointy party hats and have a balloon (for Jakl of course). She made me wear two of them on my head so I looked like a devil. We had her blow the candle out on the cake, and she had a cold and kind of sprayed when she was blowing it out, so no one ate the cake. Thankfully my mother bought devilsfood cupcakes for me before hand, so we had those. Damn they were good! My sister did tell Jakl to say "'Hype's' (insert age here)." Oh I'm sure you all know how old I am anyway. I don't act it or look it and if you're as old as you feel, Jakl and I aren't that far apart! So I got a really cool big candle in a jar from my sister. Cinnamon/Vanilla mix type thing. Smells great! I am getting a lawnmower bag from my mom as soon as we find the right one. Mr. H. got me the NOAA weather radio I wanted. My dad sent me an amazing piece of art. It's a replica of "Harmonie Tranquille" by Wassily Kandinsky, whom I never heard of. Mr. H. was surprised I never heard of him, but he saw a lot of his work traveling Europe and going to fine art museums, which I've never had the pleasure. It's abstract and very colorful and I ADORE it! It will be the focal point of the dining room and living room, I'm sure. It really pops. So now I have a Kandinsky and an Escher in the dining room! Woohoo! Culture Vulture Hype!
I also signed up for the class I had to drop in spring. It doesn't start until the end of Dec. tho, so I signed up for Stats not realizing it was an online class so I deleted that. I DEFINITELY need to take that in a classroom w/a prof at hand. Not 12 hours of online lecture! 12 hours of instruction for Statistics? That's just crazy! So I need to look for something else for Sept. Hopefully they will be offering something I need that I can take on campus... I'm kind of freaking because I have some Econ classes left, but I don't remember Econ (which is my major!). I had a great GPA in my Econ classes, but I sure don't remember anything... creepy.
I've been watching Shark Week on Discovery at night. I LOVE watching shark shows... almost as much as tornado shows. And this year, for once, the shows aren't just repeats of last year's shows. My favs are the ones that deal w/great whites... They're just so cool!
Next week Mr. H. has off Thurs and Fri when we go to that resort in East Troy w/my sis, bro-in-law, and Jaklynator for 3 days. (I mentioned that before... It was a Christmas gift from my dad.) Then Mr. H. has off 3 more days when the basement waterproofers will be hear tearing up our yard and our basement. Oh... and part of the driveway. >-/ At least the flooding will stop and we can actually do something w/the basement. I need to find a way to keep the boys from getting over to my side of the basement where all the decorating and craft stuff is, as they're making it a disaster. I wish we could just leave them upstairs unattended, but they'd tear the place apart. They can only be up when someone can really keep an eye on them, (not unlike Jakl)!
Mr. H. is working late tonight so maybe I'll get on AIM for once... if I'm not tired and of course not during Mucha Lucha. ;D I haven't been on in so long. I don't know if anyone is even on AIM on Friday nights... Probably not.
GTG... I have an iced mocha waiting for me in the other room... If anyone read this and got this far, soz it was so long!

OK, So It's THAT Day...
Yeah, it's that day. My brother in law has been trying to teach Jaklyn to say "'Hype's' old." I'm getting out my voodoo doll now. At least I'll be seeing Jakl for a few days at my mom's! Which means I have to wear a pointy party hat... I got the weather radio I wanted from Mr. Hype. :-) (Who, BTW, is driving with some dude from the other company he's working with and it's the other company's van, so that guy is driving and adding mega time to their trip by going AROUND Chicago, not taking the turnpike, going AROUND Columbus, etc. Mr. H. said about 4 hours are being added to the trip...)
Have a good weekend all... And remember... Time doesn't stand still...

Just A Quickie...
Well, this is the 2nd time I'm typing this because I can't get this thing to preview and then make changes w/out losing everything! >-( If someone knows how to do this, please tell me!
I just got done watching "The Cramp Twins". Cracks me up! :D
I didn't sleep well last night, so I'm going to take a big nap right now. Later I have to sign up for my class (the same one I had to drop in spring), and I have to call the puter help desk because they changed my p/w on me for no reason, although they keep doing it. At least I only have 2/3 of the class to do now! Woohoo!
Mr. Hype got a bit of a letdown yesterday. Several weeks ago he was booked to do a gig in PA for 5 days over this weekend, and yesterday he was asked to run teleprompter for Kerry and Edwards this weekend. So instead of getting to see presidential candidates, he will be in PA for the unveiling of the "Sodbuster 9000"... Some goofy farm implement. BUMMER!!!
It's supposed to get really hot today, so I'm staying inside (again). Still recovering from my ordeals. I want to rent "Control Room", however I don't know if it went straight to DVD or if it's in indie theaters. I have a free movie at Blockbuster, and if I get some sleep, today/tonight would be a good time to watch one. No ROTK yet. Even with breaks, I can't deal w/a 3 hour movie yet!
I'm going to GB tomorrow for a few days, so if I don't get a chance to post, have a good weekend all! (I may just have to reg for my class in person if the puter system keeps screwing up...)
I got this from Nessa's blog:
 Bizarre mix.

A Hellish Few Weeks...
Ok, so far I HATE this new version of bloggerness. I want my stuff to come out the way it was HTML'd in the first place and it better!!
This is going to be a pretty whiney post. Get the cheese. I'm still recovering from some medical issues that have plagued me for weeks. I had an unexpected allergic reaction to an antibiotic that I was never allergic to before. It was a Cephalosporin (sp), and I've never been allergic to them, although I am allergic to PCN. Most people who are allergic to PCN are allergic to Cefs, but not me until a few weeks ago. So I turned red, lips swelled up, hives, ungodly itching... (but no anaphlaxis thank God!). So I was told to take Benadryl to stop it. I have never been allergic to Benadryl. Now I am. Yes, Benadryl. My eyes blurred up, tinnitus, all the crap listed as reaction to Benadryl. I nearly clawed my skin off the past 2 weeks. Thank God that's over! I also suffered from something far worse for more than 2 weeks. It's called Ileus, and I'll leave it at that. This was sheer hell, I tell you! I am exhausted from all of this as I couldn't really sleep well for the past few weeks... So THIS is what I've been up to for the past few weeks. Dr. appts., procedures, medications, laying on the couch, etc. Nothing exciting to blog about... Oh... and my b-day is Friday... Go ahead and make all the Grim Reaper jokes now... Which reminds me! Grim is on TV for 4 hours starting now! So I'm going to go rest and watch Grim!

Either I'm Not Dead Or My Ghost Is Posting...
I just thought I'd pop on quick to say I'm still alive and stuff. Soz (love that word!) about not posting or getting around to everyone's blogs. I've been busy and whatnot. I probably still won't be posting for a while, but I'll try to get to reading and posting on other blogs more often if possible. :-)
CONGRATS to Gaz and Titty on their beautiful little girl!

Short Hiatus & Hil the Bitch...
I'll be taking a short hiatus from blogging. Don't know how long (definitely not longer than a week I'm sure!)
I pretty much summed up our 4th of July on Byrdle's blog. Didn't go to the Ducktona 500, or the Cardboard Boat Races, or the fireworks. Good thing because the crowds were so huge we never would have seen a thing. Except the fireworks, and I'm not about to go out and get skeeter bites. I don't have any bats yet. When I have some, I'll have to put them on leashes and walk around w/them so I don't get bit!
John Kerry cancelled the gig w/Mr. Hype's company to announce his VP candidate instead. Everyone at Mr. H.'s office was pretty pissed...
A tidbit Mr. Hype learned from the Secret Service. There were a lot of jokes going around that Hillary Clinton would be VP candidate, and we all know everyone despises Hil. The Secret Service must fly with her on a private plane, (Like W's Air Force One), but when they're escorting Hillary, they call it BROOMSTICK ONE! I LOVE IT!!!!

~~Happy 4th of July!~~
We would have had plans, but the weather isn't going to cooperate. We were going to go to the Ducktona 500 today, and the Cardboard Boat Races tomorrow. The cardboard boat races are sooo much fun! If it's not raining and we go, I'll take pics. All they can use is cardboard and duct tape. The amazing things these people come up with is just jaw-dropping. And the people usually dress to match the theme of their boat. Someone please help me make a web page! (I have the page, just don't know how to make it!) Then I can load photos and put them on my blog. I was told not to use Yahoo because it's unreliable and I have a freebee from my ISP. I will put whoever will help me in my will!!! (You might not want to know what you'd get tho...)
So anyhoo, have a great 4th!!!

You Make My Mind...
I just thought I'd do a little catching up. Soz <--(Gaz's word) I haven't gotten in a lot of blog reading or blogging for that matter. Anyhoo, quick recap...
Last weekend, two of Mr. H.'s friends were supposed to come up Fri, but that didn't pan out so they were coming on Sat. morn to help tear out the bathroom, the floors, dry-wall, panelling, beams, blah blah blah. So Sat. morn. Mr. H. get's a call from Chance (whom I mentioned before). He stayed at his sister's house Fri night, which is in our city, and he said he got into a car accident on the way over and needed us to pick him up to bring him to the hospital because he thinks he broke his hand. I was wondering why an ambulance didn't bring him, so I thought it must have been a really minor accident. Damn I couldn't have been more wrong! First, a little background on the intersection where this happened: There have been many many accidents here and deaths as well. OK, so we got there, and the entire intersection, (basically almost 4 blocks) are blocked off by police. There are loads of cop cars, ambulance, fire truck, a CROWD even! Firemen were putting (I think kitty litter) all over gas that poured out of Chance's gas tank during the accident all over the road. His car was crunched to about nothing and the other car's front windshield was smashed in, it was shoved into a traffic light which was lodged in the front of the car, and the car was smashed into a brick building. Nothing much left of that car either. If you didn't know it, by seeing the accident you'd have thought that both drivers were dead. When we got to the ambulance, they were just loading Chance in, and I guess he was in shock after he called us, etc. The other guy was already in the ambulance. Odd thing, both guys just got up and WALKED out of their cars after the crash. This was an AFA for Chance because he went thru a red, which he didn't see... (and he wasn't speeding!) His ticket was less than some of my speeding tickets! So anyway, the rubble of the cars was hauled away, and the scene cleaned up and Chance was brought to the hospital and his hand was broken. His sister brought him here and he stayed here the rest of the weekend after. Good thing it was his left hand or he'd be out of work for a while. So, the blue book value for his car is less than what he still owes on it! Plus he put loads of money in it customizing the engine and that will never be recovered. I guess we're all just glad no one was seriously hurt. I just wonder if Chance will be sued by the other dude for loss of use or anything. If so, I suppose the insurance will cover it, but that will make it hard to get ins. in the future! *ahem* (Ex-property/casualty insurance agent speaking here.) After talking to people at the scene they said they heard no breaks from either car, so neither saw each other. Before we got there, I took a guess, sad to say, that Chance was at fault, and it turned out to be so. This is oddly ironic because the night before I was on the phone w/him giving him a lecture on driving more safely.
The rest of the weekend was junk food, the basement being torn up. (There is no longer a bathroom down there... the bathroom looks like the inside of a subway station w/all the graffiti the previous carpenters put on the concrete blocks!) When everyone left, Mr. Hype tried to turn on the water in the basement and we coudn't get any. I wanted my washing machine! Frank came up Monday aft. and it was a valve that was jammed and had to be cranked further one direction, but Mr. H. thought it was cranked all the way and was afraid to turn it further because he thought he'd break it. So Frank drove an hour and a half to come up here, turn a valve, have a cup of tea, and go home... lol! At least we have water! I'm sick of the basement. I was just down there and the cats got onto my side of the basement and smashed a vase of flowers and knocked over a bunch of spray paint cans. I still haven't cleaned up the glass... guess I should go do that...
